She made you laugh and was thoughtful and loved everyone she came in contact with – especially with her outward going personality… and she helped
many in need – even when she was fighting the beast of her diseases (CIDP and G

She made you laugh and was thoughtful and loved everyone she came in contact with – especially with her outward going personality… and she helped
many in need – even when she was fighting the beast of her diseases (CIDP and Gillian Barre Syndrome) for the last 15+ years…
And as most of us know, Melissa would want us to celebrate her life, not mourn or feel sad – but remember her for touching our lives in some small way..

Seeing a need for energetic, nonprofit work in this area, we formed our organization to provide assistance as well as carrying on Melissa's mission of helping others.
In mid 2009 she came to her dad with the idea to help returning military from abroad who were in need. A friend of her dad's hooked her up with the Delaware National Guard &

In mid 2009 she came to her dad with the idea to help returning military from abroad who were in need. A friend of her dad's hooked her up with the Delaware National Guard & Reserve Foundation and she and her friends with a little help from dad pulled off a golf tournament and presented General Vavala and staff a check for $6,500 for the emergency fund.
Knowing this and knowing Melissa always cared is why Melissa’s Cause will carry on her name. Our main fundraiser is our annual Melissa's Cause Golf Tournament benefitting her cause.

The goal is to build the financial foundation to help others fighting CIDP / GBS through Melissa’s Cause which is a non-profit 501 c3 organization that donates money annually, as well as offering small individual grants to those in need locally.

CIDP (Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy)
Is a rare disorder of the peripheral nerves characterized by gradually increasing sensory loss and weakness associated with loss of reflexes.
Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS)
Is a disorder in which the body’s immune system attacks part of the peripheral nervous system.
